Mhanna is intrigued by the underlying conflict between outward facial expressions and inner spirit. His curiosity and determination led him to conduct a series of thoughtfully constructed yet instinctively altered human faces. As the artist states: ‘I surrender to the sharp edge of my palette knife to forge stylized screams upon an array of forgotten faces, gradually fading away into the simple ambiguousness of their expressions’. The scream slyly dissolves into a powerful interplay of inhibition and intensity, warmth and diligence. Mhanna had two solo exhibitions and was part of several group exhibitions in Lebanon and abroad. Lately, Mhanna’s work has been selected to be part of 32nd Salon d’Automne at the Sursock Museum.
